Dnipro Floorball Tournament

On Saturday Steve traveled to Dnipro (next city over, about 80 km away) to play in a floorball tournament. There are two different leagues that Steve's floorball team are part of and this was not the one that they're first place in and going to playoffs for next weekend.

It was a one day tournament and they were the only team who had to play four games. The last team they played against was on their first game, which doesn't seem fair and was a bit of a concern to Steve. He was worried about the whole team wearing themselves out and possibly getting injured right before their playoff tournament next weekend. However that ended up being a non-issue because they won every game and destroyed the last team quite easily.

Steve was a bit down after the first game because of bad reffing. He got a bit upset at one point so he phoned me after the game so that the boys and I could pray for him in their next game. He wants to be a good example to the guys on his team and that's really hard to do that when reffing calls are unjust and when you're a competitive guy.

He got MVP for their second game and I'm always really interested in what the prize is, because there's ALWAYS a prize. This is serious business, not just a verbal honour!! Other tournaments have given a massive gingerbread cookie with an icing floorball player on it, a really great t-shirt with a floorball player on it, and this time it was a legit (teeny tiny) trophy!

Apparently after this tournament their team is in second place in this league, second only to the absolute best team in all of Ukraine, who travels to other countries to play against teams all around Europe! Steve isn't sure if that's true or not or how they even got here, but it's pretty cool.
