First Chunk of August

I can't believe the month is almost over! We blinked and it flew by.  Here's some photos from the first part of the month.

Our English in the park on Mondays was mostly successful. We had different people every time but there were always people that showed up! We would play games for a while and then would end up just walking and talking with whoever came that day.

Our beach evenings were interesting. They seemed to alternate between very few people coming and then the next week we would have over 20 people from various groups we're connected with. It was definitely fun every time no matter the crowd. We would play all the different games - volleyball, frisbee, soccer, football and there was usually some kind of sand creation that was built before or after swimming.

The floorball team had a friendly match against Skala (the best team in Ukraine).

There were TV cameras and journalists there and Steve was interviewed. The journalist thought that it was so interesting that there are Canadians living in Zaporozhye that she scrapped his interview from her floorball article and instead did an article just about us. We met her and a photographer in the park one afternoon and it was mostly questions about the differences between Canada and Ukraine. It was all in Russian so there were a few things that I don't think they fully understood, ha ha. But I linked the article below if you want to read it, using Google translate of course! It does say that we're missionaries but doesn't get much more specific than that, which isn't surprising!

A lot of our summer has just been meeting up with people on the streets. Early on the guys met some people playing Pokemon Go, of all things, and have since built some good relationships and have had some incredibly deep conversations about God. It's been so awesome to see something as silly as a game open up huge doors to speak into people's lives and share about Jesus!

We played slippery floorball and cornhole in the park one evening and it was a hit! Our plastic sheet ripped to shreds by the end of the evening but we bought another one and will try again this Saturday for #JustYouth.

We've brought cornhole to the park a bunch of times and it always draws people over to see what it is. We spend a lot of time walking too - just walking around in a crowd speaking English has drawn in a lot of people and will hopefully lead to deeper relationships and sharing about Christ.

Did the Google Translate on the interview. Interesting, of course Google Translate couldn't figure it all out, but most was understandable. pops
