Spiritual Warfare

The topic we've been looking at so far this week has been spiritual warfare. Our speaker was Randy Friesen who is the general director of MBMSI and we learned some important truths that we felt lead to share.
The first thing we learned is that spiritual warfare isn't just going around casting demons out of people. 90% of spiritual warfare takes place in your own personal life, maintaining the things that Christ has set you free from and not giving that ground back to Satan. The other 10% is all that demon stuff.
As his text, Randy used mostly the book of Ephesians which is jam-packed full of good stuff, seriously if you've never read it please do, it's really powerful. It says in chapter 4:22-24, "You were taught with regard to your old former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitudes of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." So this basically says that every day we have to come under the authority of Christ in our speech, thoughts, attitudes and actions. This is a really really hard thing to put into practice every day. So hard in fact, that no one can do this on their own power. How then is it accomplished? Every morning we wake up and change clothes. We take off the old and put on the new clothes for that day. In the same way, we should be removing our old ways of life daily. An easy way to do this is by using PREP - waking up each morning, coming before God and
P - Proclaiming who God is, Proclaiming who I am in Christ (if you don't know, ask God)
R - Repent of anything satan can get a foothold on (eg. bad attitude) and
Resist by acknowledging our authority in Christ to resist these things
E - Entreat - ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit
P - put on the armour of God, read through the armour and verbally put it on for battle throughout the day (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Here's some random pictures from Sunday that we threw in for entertainment value.

Hi, folks...
Was wondering about your camp and your church affiliation. BC is one of my favorite places in the whole world; sounds like you're having fun up there.

God Bless ;-)

Good message guys, it's something everyone deals with and we have to support each other in the fight, although the Holy Spirit does most of the fighting.
P.S. Hang in there (nice picts)- that was a Roger Erb joke.

Hey guys, thanks for the reminder today. It's so true that our general view on spiritual warfare is "out there"...it's interesting once we start looking inward isn't it?! Like you said, it's a daily thing....walk in that truth and stand up for the territory won in the Name of Jesus!!

Awesome blog Jo (or Steve, I'm not sure who wrote it). I've been having alot of trouble lately with this particular topic, and I know this blog was meant for me to read today. It's difficult sometimes to realize that who you once were doesn't mean thats who you are always going to be, that when you surrender your past to God, theres no need to dwell anymore becasue He's working with you always to become a better person. Not giving that ground back to Satan is a constant struggle lately and this blog has done alot to make me feel empowered again!
I gotta say, I'm getting alot of inspiration from you two as each blog I read I thuroughly enjoy and learn alot, and this one is no exception. I just want to say a big thanks, I know God was definitly with you when you wrote this!

Keep it up, I'm always reading!
Love you, miss you so much.
