Melrose

Other than family and friends, one of the main things we miss from home is going out to a good restaurant. Our Peace Corps friend, Bailey suggested that we try out a restaurant here called Melrose because it serves American food - as well as Mexican, Italian and Japanese! We headed over there with our friend Stephanie after church today for lunch and were excited with the huge menu and the crazy selection of burgers, tacos, steak (filet mignon for under $10), sushi and other delicious looking foods. They also boasted about their different kinds of meaty poutines and we found this picture on the menu:
I have to say I was a little bit outraged! I didn't think I had so much Canadian pride for poutine but apparently I do! I will probably get upset every time I go there and see that menu BUT I will console myself with the fact that at least I can get poutine here!
Steve had an order of burritos, I had chicken nuggets and fries, Steph had filet mignon with cheesy mashed potatoes and vegetables and we all shared an order of mozza sticks.
The portion sizes were smaller than we're used to at home which isn't surprising because this is Europe but we kind of thought with this being based on American style dining that they'd be bigger. Steph's was the most substantial and Steve's was the smallest and it was all really good, yet definitely different than at home.
It's so much fun discovering new restaurants here - the differences are always interesting and we have always ended up being happy with what we've eaten. Now we have TWO restaurants in our repertoire for up and coming guests!

AND on that note - we are getting our first guests at the beginning of April!!
We are suuuuuper excited to be welcoming some friends that we made when we visited Spain in November. Bobi is from Czech Republic and is an amazing woman so I'm super excited to hang out with her and Justin is from Alberta (YAY a Canadian!!) and he and Steve got along really well. Neither Bobi or Justin had a solid plan for once they graduated from G42 (which they did this past Wednesday) and we got along so well when we were there that they decided to join us for a bit to see what our ministry is looking like and where they can help us out. Dez really loved both of them and I made the mistake of telling him that they are coming and he's been asking about them all the time.

My husband loves restaurants, and we go out, oh... maybe once every 3 years? I'm taking notes here. :-)
