I went for my fifteenth and final chiropractor appointment on Friday. I have to say that I am amazed at how much of a difference there is in the pain in my neck. Near the end of the first three weeks of treatments there were WHOLE ENTIRE DAYS in a row, where at the end of the day I would be struck with a realization of - hey! I've had NO pain today! Teresa even commented at Bible study one Thursday evening at how much I was moving my neck! I could look around without turning my whole entire body - it was amazing!!
Unfortunately....last Saturday I had another - what I can only describe as a shock in my collar bone area - which is how this whole thing started a few years ago and those shocks take a very, very long time to recover from. I had this one on Saturday and didn't see the chiropractor until Wednesday and my neck, shoulder and entire arm were quite painful, but by Thursday it was starting to feel okay again. I made sure to avoid anything that would strain my neck, which seems to be the key to staying shock-free.
On Friday the chiropractor gave me a list of medications to get for the collar bone thing that he says is related, but might be a different issue than the herniated disc in my neck. He said that the disc is moving back into place (or whatever) but it's still very fragile so I need to still take it very easy, which is extremely hard for me! He also said to just call him if we needed another appointment, but didn't say that I should come back at any point so I guess we'll go through this course of medication, pray for no more shocks and then see what happens.
In general I do feel much better but definitely not 100% healed. I know that this has definitely brought me the most relief of anything I've tried. I do notice that if I have a more painful day here or there I tend to be quite irritable and moody! I really hope I haven't been that way for the last two years but I'm trying to be kind to the people around me in spite of the pain!
On that note.....here's a jar full of leeches that sits on the table at the chiropractor's place:
