Just Youth: Dutch Blitz

We held our Just Youth event this evening with a massive game of Dutch Blitz! Dutch Blitz is really popular here so we thought it would be cool to do it life-sized, like we've done at past events at home, but have never seen here. It took a lot of work to get all the cards done this week (especially since I messed up 60 of them!!!!) but it was worth the work because everyone had so much fun!!

We played in teams of six people and had four referees throughout the entire game to keep things friendly!

There were a couple of collisions but mostly it was injury-free.

After we had played for an hour we sat everyone down and Steve shared a message on having a relationship with God and what that looks like, using King David as a Biblical example.

He used Psalm 61 as his passage but we all forgot that the Psalms in the Russian Bible are all different than the English Bible because Psalm 20 is split into two psalms, or something! So Psalm 62 is eight verses but our translator Katya kept reading and reading.....finally Steve stopped her and tried to figure out which one was the right one....and she read a few more in the meantime trying to find the same one! So Steve laid down for a while and relaxed and eventually we got it sorted out, and actually read all of Psalm 61!
After Steve's message we played more Dutch Blitz until the end of the night. Everyone was having so much fun! And COMPETITIVE!! It was awesome and I really think we'll be able to play again sometime in the future - and our homemade cards survived fairly well - with a few extra pieces of tape they should be good to go!!
