We are well into our time here at Trek. The following is our first week's schedule, under the title "Orientation Week". Each week has a different theme, and this week is all about getting to know each other and figure everything out. Every morning we have sessions either in the Great Room downstairs (where we eat and hang out) or at Clearbrook MB church which is a 10 minute walk down the hill. Sometimes the afternoons are sessions too, Tuesdays and Thursdays are work duty afternoons.
Today being Tuesday, we had our first work duty! We do work duties to team build and serve others in the community. We helped a couple move today. They were missionaries in Peru for 10 years and just moved back to Abbotsford. With 14 of us it took less than an hour to load up stuff from one place, take it to the next and unload it (plus 2 other girls and I got to ride in the back of the moving van which was wicked awesome!). As you can see, the plan for the weekend is to go to Whistler! Although unfortunately we probably won't be going snowboarding because we've been informed that it's about $200 per person to do that. I was hoping that they rent toboggans but the rest of my team told me that garbage bags work well for sliding down hills in a pinch!! We'll probably do another blog later tonight about some of the other stuff we've been working on.
